We were both regularly attending Yankee home games on Friday nights for years before we met. Rich has had his season tickets for over 10 years and Cindy has had her season tickets since 2003.
Having seats in the Grand Stand sections of Yankees stadium sometimes means sitting near your seats as opposed to in your seats. Fans tend to shuffle about during games. Separately, we did this often.
One Friday evening Rich grabbed a seat that landed him right in front of Cindy. That is how we met. That night we discovered the first of many shared interests.
For the next two baseball seasons we would occasionally meet up at The Dugout for a beer with our respective friends before the game. But once we entered the stadium, we had always went our separate ways to watch the game.
It wasn't until the inaugural year of the new Yankees Stadium did things change.
Cindy: You're acting a bit weird tonight
Rich: I'd like to take you out to dinner
Cindy: Hmm, really? Okay.
And that marked the beginning of our relationship as a couple.
To date, we still have our season tickets and will continue to go to Yankee home games.
